Both books cover roughly the same beginner to intermediate level. But I prefer the organization of the Cambridge book, which provides a more complete overview of the whole structure of the language before diving in t|About the Author|Michael Coulson taught Sanskrit at the University of Edinburgh. His classic work was edited by Professor Richard Gombrich and has been revised by James Benson, both of Oxford University.
